Program Overview

Our Pre-K program is the equivalent to a kindergarten program. We strive to create a happy, healthy, and loving environment that our children look forward to spending time in every day. Our learning programs are individually designed to challenge your child.

Every aspect of our Pre-K classroom is designed to enhance and develop the natural learning ability of your child. We begin our school year by reviewing letters, numbers, shapes, colors, literacy, and letter-tracing. Once we have established the fundamentals, we begin to further develop skills in all of these areas with more advanced skill-building activities.

Children learn that each letter has a sound, and that those sounds blend to form words, the foundation for reading readiness. We also work on math skills, such as number recognition, number sequencing, number patterns, and simple addition and subtraction.

About halfway through the school year, children bring books home to read with their parents. At the end of our program, our goal is for your child to be reading and writing on his/her own, before kindergarten begins.

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go."

Learning

Our program is designed to increase your child’s knowledge, create awareness, and stimulate their natural curiosity to learn, grow, and change according to age and ability. Our enrichment programs focus on developing foreign language skills and a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Our curriculum is based on developing both artistic and logic-based skills to ensure a strong foundation for balanced, lifelong learning in our children.

Writing

Children continue to perfect writing their letters and numbers. They practice proper writing posture and learn capital and lowercase letter recognition. The children learn to write their proper full names using capital and lowercase letters, and also learn to recognize that a name begins with a capital letter.

Literacy

Our four-year-olds practice blending sounds and reading every day. Our goal is for them to be reading by the time they advance to kindergarten. Literacy enrichment is fundamental to our curriculum, from story time to activities that promote the development of reading and writing skills.

Music

Music enhances a child’s ability to develop rhythm and cadence and assists in reading readiness and memory skills. Our curriculum is very musically oriented. Bells, tambourines, horns, and other instruments are part of our every-day activities. Dancing and exercising to the sound of music is an important part of our enrichment program.

Exercise

Exercise contributes to mental awareness and strengthens the body and core muscles. We practice running, jumping, jogging, and stretching and teach children how to exercise in group activities.

Art

We continue to explore children’s worlds by using different aspects of art such as painting, drawing, sculpture, and fun with crafts.

Nurturing creativity early fosters continued development in later years. At this stage, children can pick up writing utensils, understand that words and drawings represent actual items, and begin to create representations of their worlds through drawing and painting. Art lessons help in building fine motor and critical thinking skills. We expand on our age three curriculum by introducing more advanced art skills. We open up conversations about what the children have drawn and begin to interpret symbols in drawings as representations of people and specific items.

Exploring Nature

We want our children to love and respect the outdoors, and spending time in nature is critical to our curriculum for four-year-olds. Our world is continuing to evolve technologically at great speed, and we want to make sure our children understand the value of nature, as well as how important it is to spend time away from electronic devices. We also begin to identify different aspects of nature and encourage conversations among the children about the outdoors, animals, and nature.

Nutrition

Proper nutrition is key to healthy growth and development in all areas. Building strong bodies and minds and stimulating mental awareness is our daily focus. We serve organic, whole, nutritional foods prepared and delivered by our organic catering company, Gourmet Gorilla™.
