Developing children’s understanding of what it means to respect one another and to be responsible for their actions is a part of every moment of the Newport Children’s Academy experience. Our children are given opportunities to make independent decisions and to share responsibilities within their classrooms in order to build social skills and develop confidence in their innate abilities of leadership and service.

Children are taught to be respectful in their attitudes and demeanors, and good manners are always encouraged. Our children develop social skills that they can use throughout their lives.

Play is a very important part of the curriculum at Newport Children’s Academy. Many of the learning concepts from the classroom are incorporated into our kids’ free play and activity time. Newport Children’s Academy activities are designed to make sure that children are allowed to be children – to move freely by running, laughing, playing, and delighting in the beauty of nature that surrounds them. Your child’s happiness is an important and primary goal of our program.

The concept of “color psychology” is based on the idea that children in different stages of cognitive growth react positively when exposed to different ranges of color. We chose our colors for each classroom to correspond with the specific needs of each age group.

Infants: Their comforting experience in life revolves around human contact. Feeding, being held and cuddled, and being frequently clothed and unclothed supports their physiological response to flesh-toned colors: Peach, pink, salmon, coral, tan, and toasted hues.

Toddlers/Two-year-olds: Toddlers are always on the go. They are experiencing independence but return to safe and calming places. Balanced colors support their cognitive learning and need for stimulation and physical exploration, and likewise support their psychological need for security: Green, blue-green, yellow, and purple.

Preschool/Three- to Four-year-olds: Preschoolers are eager and independent. Their brains are processing more information at faster paces. They become more curious with their surroundings. Bright, energetic hues support inquisitive behavior when paired with soft, warm hues: Yellow, orange, purple, teal, and magenta.

The Newport Children’s Academy building was carefully scouted and chosen in order to provide solutions to many of the issues facing parents in the Chicagoland area, such as long waiting lists for quality care, confined spaces, and unsafe locations. We are thrilled to offer a self-contained location that offers safety, security, and ample learning space.

Our children are well prepared for kindergarten and are given a strong foundation built on love and respect which will last them for their entire lives. At Newport Children’s Academy, every staff member is devoted to meeting the total emotional, physical, social, intellectual, and creative needs of your child through love and understanding.

We have several differentiators that make us unique. Most importantly, safety is our first priority. Newport Children’s Academy is a standalone building on a quiet residential street. We are proud to offer a state-of-the-art security system and constant digital monitoring of classrooms. Additionally, our teachers are highly qualified and screened by both the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and our administration. Traditionally, 90% of the students who take part in our curriculum are reading and writing by the time they enter kindergarten. Finally, we offer a state-of-the-art facility intentionally designed to enhance every aspect of a child’s learning and care. From a soft color palette that encourages children to remain focused to sun-drenched classrooms with high ceilings, every detail of our facility has been consciously engineered to foster the learning process and growth of young minds.
